ASR® (Automatic Sensor Cleaning) keeps DIS electrode surfaces clean in demanding applications. This guide explains how to set cleaning frequency on Krypton® Multi and Krypton® DIS / DIS (Total) when the ASR® add-on is activated.
Background: What is ASR®?
What ASR® does
Our patented Automatic Sensor Cleaning feature keeps the electrodes’ surfaces clean and active, even in demanding and high-pollution applications. That reduces manual maintenance and supports accuracy when the correct cleaning frequency is selected for your water quality.
Change cleaning frequency (Multi and DIS / DIS Total)
The menu path is the same on Krypton® Multi and Krypton® DIS / DIS (Total):
- Open Main menu > In/Out > DIS.
- Scroll to the cleaning section.
- Set cleanings per week (or equivalent frequency option on your firmware).
On Krypton® Multi with two disinfectant channels, configure cleaning for the relevant DIS channel (DIS 1 / DIS 2) as installed.
Choosing the right frequency
| Topic | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application | Match frequency to water quality and fouling rate on site. |
| Available range (typical) | 1–7 cleanings per week on many Multi builds; DIS documentation also lists up to once per day on some firmware — use the options shown on your display. |
| Signal vs. reference | If DIS reads low versus DPD/reference but recovers after manual cleaning, increase ASR® frequency. |
Note: The cleaning frequency should match your application and is water-quality dependent.
During and after ASR® cleaning
- While ASR® runs, measurement and control may be inactive for several minutes; the last value can be frozen on the display and on mA outputs.
- Do not calibrate during an ASR® cycle.
- Wait 15–30 minutes after ASR® before calibrating or relying on control.
- In AUTO mode, the controller can pause during automatic cleaning (see operation modes article).
Prerequisites
- ASR® add-on must be activated on the analyzer (add-on code from Kuntze).
- DIS sensor installed and flow stable before tuning frequency.
