The Krypton® Multi includes a built-in, concentration-based controller with four control relays. Relay functions are defined in the CONTROL menu; they are not freely assignable to arbitrary parameters—assignment follows the control type you select for pH, DIS 1, and (when installed) EC or DIS 2 (see tables below).
Menu path: Main menu > CONTROL
CONTROL menu structure
In CONTROL you configure measurement-based dosing and relay outputs in these submenus:
- pH
- DIS 1
- Optionally EC or DIS 2 (when those measurement channels are present on your instrument)
Under SETTINGS you can enable a second parameter set and define start delay and dosage check time.
Assignment of control relays
Control relays are linked to the active control variable and the setting chosen in the matching CONTROL submenu. Empty cells mean that relay is not used for that configuration.
| Parameter | Setting | Relay 1 | Relay 2 | Relay 3 | Relay 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| pH | Actuator Cl / Actuator | S1 pH open | S1 pH close | — | — |
| Dosing pump / Pulse pump / On/off | S1 pH (raise or reduce) | — | — | — | |
| 2 dosing pumps / 2 pulsepumps / 2 on/off | S1 pH raise | S2 pH reduce | — | — | |
| DIS 1 | Actuator Cl / Actuator | — | — | S1 DIS 1 open | S1 DIS 1 close |
| Dosing pump / Pulse pump / On/off | — | — | S1 DIS 1 (raise or reduce) | — | |
| 2 dosing pumps / 2 pulsepumps / 2 on/off | — | — | S1 DIS 1 raise | S2 DIS 1 reduce | |
| Conductivity or DIS 2 | Dosing pump / Pulse pump / On/off | — | S1 EC/DIS 2 (raise or reduce) | — | S1 EC/DIS 2 (raise or reduce) |
How to read the table
- Relays 1 and 2 serve pH control only. Relays 3 and 4 serve DIS 1 control only.
- Single output modes (dosing pump, pulse pump, or on/off) use one relay in the pair: relay 1 for pH, relay 3 for DIS 1.
- Actuator and dual-pump modes use both relays in the pair (open/close or raise/reduce).
- Conductivity or DIS 2 (optional channel) uses relay 2 and relay 4 for dosing pump, pulse pump, or on/off control. Relays 1 and 3 are not used for this parameter. Only one of EC or DIS 2 is configured on a given instrument.
- Labels such as S1 and S2 refer to controller parameter sets configured under CONTROL > SETTINGS.
Operation and wiring notes
- Dosing and relay outputs follow the selected MODE (AUTO, MAN, HOLD). In HOLD, control outputs are inactive—use during maintenance.
- DI1 (flow) and DI2 (external stop) can disable all controllers; DI3 / DI4 can stop pH or DIS 1 only. See the digital-inputs article.
- Wire external pumps, actuators, or contactors to the instrument relay terminals per your terminal guide and local electrical code.
